How To Spend February Half-Term

Half-Term Plans Sorted

With February Half Term currently underway, we’re sure many parents are stuck for what to do with the kids. We’re here to give you some ideas of how to keep the kids entertained and not drive you mad from boredom.

Waddesdon Manor

During February Half-Term, Waddesdon Manor put on many activities to keep children and parents busy. Visit the manor for fun orienteering in collaboration with Thames Valley Orienteering Club and with three routes to choose from, your children will never be bored. Complete all routes and receive a medal for each.

If orienteering isn’t for you or your children then why not visit the manor for a leisurely day out. Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful manor grounds as well as the aviary, where you will find a selection of exotic birds.

Green Retreats

Before you pop into Waddesdon Manor, stop by our Green Retreats showroom where you can find out more about our garden rooms and how we can help you begin your garden room journey. We have 17 fully furnished garden rooms on display in our Buckinghamshire showroom to give you a real feel for what exactly our buildings have to offer. We also have a selection of samples, such as cross-sections of our walls, samples of our decking and much more.

Weather permitting, we have a fun outdoor playground for the kids and in the rain, they’ll keep themselves entertained with our indoor play area, which includes fun colouring and connect four.

Our coffee pod offers a great selection of drinks, including a collection of Tea Pigs teas, coffees from our Nespresso machine, and even deliciously warming hot chocolate.

Don’t forget to pick up your voucher card from the showroom, which entitles you to free grounds entry to Waddesdon Manor, as well as 10% off food at cool gastropub The Long Dog , located 5 minutes from the Manor. We’d recommend you book in advance!

Green Dragon Eco farm

Since you’re in the area, Green Dragon Eco Farm is a great way to spend the day with the kids. With daily animal encounters, visitors to the farm can get close to the animals. This allows visitors to learn more about animals in a hands-on manner. These animal encounters are led by a friendly team of staff who are happy to offer their knowledge to visitors.

During Half-Term, the farm is celebrating ‘Love your Pets’ from the 15th till the 23rd of February.
Visit the farm to show some appreciation to the animals in Pets’ Corner.

Make a Mess

With pancake day fast approaching, why not get some practice before the big day? Make a big batch and try them with all sorts of different toppings, to find out which one you like best. Get creative and decorate your pancakes with fruit! Why not turn pancake decorating into a contest with the kids? Who doesn’t like a bit of friendly competition?

Don’t worry, we’ve researched for you and these pancakes from BBC good food are the perfect pancakes, as the title suggests.

Get Creative

With the unpredictable weather we have in this country, it’s always a good idea to have an indoor back-up idea. Instead of letting the kids spend their time of devices such as phones or PlayStations why not set up an arts and crafts station where they can get creative? DIY birthday cards are always a fun activity and a gesture I’m sure many would appreciate.

If you’re after a break from all the creative fun (and mess) why not turn your living room into a home fairy-tale cinema. Grab all the duvets and pillows from the bedrooms and make the floor a marshmallow-y space to lounge in while watching your favourite films. What cinema day is complete without snacks? From S’mores dip to creative popcorn recipes, BBC good food has got you covered for ideas.
