WHY HINA NEEDED A GARDEN BUILDING

After much success in the hair and beauty business, Hina decided that it was time to finally run her salon, Hair Solutions, from home. This would save her money on renting salon space and other expenses which come with renting a retail space. The joy of investing in a garden building meant that Hina could maintain her brand image by taking the design into her own hands, as well as our professional design consultants. being in control of the design of her building meant that Hina could choose exactly where vital elements to her business, such as plug sockets and plumbing could be placed.

As well as a hair salon, Hina’s salon also offers services such as laser hair removal, microdermabrasion and Shellac manicures. For this reason, her salon needed to be a multifunctional space. For her laser hair removal service, Hina required a separate room, which we were easily able to do with the addition of a partition wall with a door for privacy.

WHAT WE DID

With the help of our knowledgable design consultants, Hina was able to decide on a 7.5m x 4m TGO1. The TGO1 features a beautifully modern design as well as wrap-around door and window sets which let more light into the space. Hina’s building features graphite doors and windows with black handles and hinges. The front of her salon is clad in natural cedar, while the left, right and rear are clad in redwood. The salon features a graphite fascia, graphite composite decking and a contemporary redwood side screen to the left.

THE FINISHED PROJECT

A home salon has helped Hina achieve the perfect work and home balance and saves her time and money not only on her commute but also on renting retail space and the costs associated. Having the freedom to design her building meant that Hina was in total control of where elements such as plug sockets could be placed and gave her the freedom to layout her building as she wanted.

Our customer Richard is the managing director of Khaos Technology, specialists in the research and development of future printing technologies. Richard required a solution to the ever-evolving global pandemic and new lockdown nation. A home garden office was the best option for Richard.

With the company head office in Cincinnati, Ohio – frequent pond hopping trips between the US and UK were commonplace. Exhibitions would take Richard to all corners of the world, and international trade was booming. After spending many years working from his dining room and with the onset of Covid-19, Richard was faced with a dilemma. How was he going to make his business thrive under the new normal?

Richard found that over the years, the walls were starting to close in on him at his home dining room office, and more space was required. With a business mentality, Richard understood that renting office space was not a financially viable option; neither was a loft conversion. With a workable space of 5m x 4m in his garden, the decision was clear, a home garden office it was!

“A loft conversation would be a real luxury, but the expense for the full works would have amounted to between £40-60k and not so easy to persuade HMRC that the room would be for the sole use of the business.”

WHY THE CUSTOMER NEEDED A GARDEN BUILDING

“As the lockdown started, I spent just two evenings deciding on how to proceed. I sat in bed thinking about the best way to tackle the inability to travel, how could we hold client seminars, create virtual trade shows that will allow us to present new technology concepts and expand our business interests. In short, how can we thrive in a lockdown scenario? It was clear, whatever I wanted to do, I could no longer do it from the dining room!”

It was clear to Richard that the dining room was no longer the environment to progress his business in these uncertain times. Richard now required a professional environment to hold client seminars, create virtual trade shows to present new technology concepts and expand his business interests.

After a quick search on the internet, Richard discovered The Garden Office and after some research decided that a home garden office was for him.

“High craftsmanship, British innovation, renewal energy farm, recyclability etc. All the boxes were ticked.”

WHAT WE DID

A neutral palette was vital in picking the design of Ricahrds studio. Working in the printing industry and dealing with colour daily, Richard required a space to contrast that. The modular features of the TGO1 were what drew Richard to the design, as well as the striking use of anthracite metals, composite decking and the wooden facade. Richard opted for a 4.5m x 3m garden office with an abundance of natural light due to his door and window options and building orientation.

“With various options to choose from, there is a style for everyone’s tastes.”

THE FINISHED PROJECT

The addition of Richards garden office, which he calls Khaos Studios, has allowed him to have his own office space without the embarrassment of boxes stacked floor to ceiling due to lack of space in his home. Now Richard (and his colleague Otis the Jack Russell) is not only able to expand his working space, but create a Covid secure office, while still feeling like he is leaving the house and going to work.

Not many of us have the time, or resources to build a traditional gym in the house. We’re either stuck with visiting the gym, slowly resenting it, or trying to find room in the house for a workout.

Our customers found themselves in a position where they were in desperate need of extra room in the house. A space to train after work but also use the space as somewhere to relax.

With extensions coming to a hefty price, a conservatory not being suitable they were a little stuck with ideas. The solution…?

A garden room from The Garden Office.

A garden gym is the perfect place to retreat to after a hectic day at work; unwind, de-stress and finish your day off right.

A garden gym creates the perfect environment for your work out sessions. Allowing you to use your own equipment in the privacy of your own home. With a choice of doors and windows you can create an impeccable balance of natural light and ventilation. Our garden rooms are fitted with high security (insurance grade) multi point locks and bolts with a 5-lever locking system putting your mind at ease each time you lock up and leave for work.

This TGO1 garden gym is 4.5m x 4.5m, set with 2.3m sliding doors, a lozenge and corner window. There is an exterior torch light for the dark winter evenings.

The interior is finished with our standard melamine walls, an easy to clean and non-scratch surface for a garden gym. This building has two LED panel lights and two set of track lights, creating a bright and vibrant garden gym environment.

Working remotely can be a challenge; Home seems like the best option, but the small upstairs office has become dull, uninspiring and lacking in space.

Finding a distraction-free environment can be a challenge especially when you’re working from the same sofa you were watching Netflix from a few hours ago. Business and pleasure need to be separated otherwise there’s a constant distraction by one or the other.

Our customers were in need of a professional office to run their business from, but with inadequate space in the house, office rentals raking up at a hefty price, extensions taking a varying amount of time while not friendly on the wallet, they were stuck for alternative possibilities. The solution?

A 5m x 3m garden office. The perfect alternative for those in need of space. Our garden offices are fully insulated making them suitable for all-year round use. A 5m x 3m building provides a generous 15sqm of space for two desks, cupboards and a small kitchenette. By partitioning a garden room, it creates a great storage solution for those who wish to ditch the cobwebbed shed.

Our customers are now able to leave work behind closed doors and unwind back at home.

A growing business is a fantastic success; with increased work and staff, more space is needed to accommodate this. Our customer Tim, the founder of agency GBB coaching & started his business at the kitchen table. GBB has always been a ‘home-based’ business but now with 9 full time office staff and 40 associates, the business out-grew the house.

As GBB grew, Tim moved into a larger house which fortunately had a separate double garage which had been part converted into a gym. A perfect space to renovate into an office, however after some research, it proved to be a considerable amount of work and leaving a very large dent in the wallet. GBB was in need of a different solution, as working in the house was becoming restrictive.

home business working from home

The Garden Office proved to be ideal for what GBB was looking for. Initially the business only needed one garden office, which gave the business a whole new level of professionalism and a proper work-life balance with a door to close at the end of the day. However, as GBB continued growth, the 7.5m x 3.5m garden office soon became overcrowded. A second 7.5m x 3.5m TGO1 was installed. At The Garden Office, we understood GBB’s business needs, creating a space which allows more growth. Staff can continue to work whether Tim is out all day in meetings or taking a well-deserved holiday and the business is proud to invite clients. The offices have created a fantastic work-life balance for Tim and his thriving business (which also allows an office dog).
